More Austin Workshop Artist Work

artwork by Jane West
Jane has taken several workshops from me in Austin at Dragonfly Gallery. She sent me this image of the art that she finished after the workshop. I just love the rich colors that she got, a very sophisticated palette. She is signed up for this year at Dragonfly Gallery for our annual event. I have added 2 days since the initial workshop filled up so fast. You can still sign up for April 2-3. I'll see you all in Austin soon.

Austin Art Group

painting by Patricia Goldberg
Another talented Austin artist, Patty Goldberg, sent me several images of finished work and they are all beautiful. I love to see how everyone that learns the same techniques can then translate them so differently into their own voice. I will be teaching techniques from all three books I have and I even have a few tricks that aren't in the books. I hope to see you in a workshop somewhere this year.

Austin Workshop Artists

artwork by Clarity Ann
This work is from another artist that took the workshop in Austin, TX last year. You can see what a talented bunch we have, but don't let that intimidate you. This class is for all levels, including folks who have just picked up a brush. In fact, you will have many artists from which to learn from. That is what I love about teaching, I learn new tricks too. So sign up for the 2 days that we just added. Go to the Dragonfly Gallery link under art workshops. See you there.

Tres Lunas

Tres Lunas
I created this painting for my second book Surface Treatment Workshop. It involves layering many different techniques.  I recently finished the artwork for my third book and I used a lot of panels that had backgrounds that were already painted from teaching and demos. It reinforces my appreciation for all the layers that go into my work. I think this is what makes a painting interesting. Sometimes you may only see a tiny portion of what came before, but it adds tremendously to the depth and history of the work.

Painting from Workshop Participants

Painting by Cindy Lopez
This is a wonderful painting by Cindy Lopez who is in Austin, TX. She takes the workshops at Dragonfly Gallery and is represented in several galleries in Texas. She is a wonderfully talented artist and I am looking forward to seeing her again this year in Austin.

You will never guess what the incredibly textured center part of the painting is, so I'll tell you. Cindy has done many poured paintings and she uses a bucket that the extra paint flows into. Over time the paint builds up to about an inch thick. She popped this out of the bottom of the bucket and discovered this absolutely gorgeous texture and color on the underside. She brought it to the class and we discussed how to mount it. It turned out Great!
