The Inside Passage This abstracted sunset is filled with colorful snippets and colorful patterns. I began this piece while teaching in the Pacific Northwest and it represented the deep canyons that are lush with flowers and trees. The sky is a rich bronze color and bits of fabric, gold leaf and plaster create incredible texture and depth. This piece will keep you entranced every time you look at it you will find something new.

Contemporary Art, Abstract Painting "Osiris" by Santa Fe Contemporary Artist Sandra Duran Wilson

Framed in a black floater frame. Osiris is my interpretation of the asteroid Bennu. Their is a NASA mission ship called Osiris Rex that has traveled into space carrying images of art, including one of my paintings. It has arrived at the asteroid and is now retrieving samples and will return to Earth.

Have you ever followed cairns, those piles of rocks you see alongside the edge of a path? This is the inspiration for this colorful kind of wonky collage painting. The balancing act involves holding extremes as you wobble from side to side while maintaining your steps along the path of live. This piece has beautiful complementary colors of turquoise and orange-red and the black and white graphic patterns hold you in place.

Astrophysics and science fiction come together in my imagination. When I close my eyes at night this is what I see, beautifully vibrant and colorful swirling energy clouds and stars. This piece also shows a bit of the Milky Way. The acrylic painting has glass orbs embedded into the paint and reflective paints that will shift from blue to gold to green depending on the viewing angle. Place this one on a little easel next to your bed to inspire your galactic dreams.

My explorations take me into uncharted territory, and I love the soft muted colors combined with holographic film, book pages and the grittiness of embossing powders. Large Abstract Painting, Mixed Media, Contemporary Art "Where the River Meets the Sea" by Santa Fe Contemporary Artist Sandra Duran Wilson

Mixed Media and gold leaf.

This painting has been with me for a very long time. It even makes an appearance in my artist video on the home page. I have always loved it, but I knew it wasn't finished and that it needed a few more touches, so I lived with it. I recently put it in my office, leaning on top of my bookcases. I placed a sculpture I made in front of it. As I looked at it this way, I knew what it needed. I created a piece of patinaed fabric and metal as the addition and now it is finished. The title comes from my writings about how an individual is like a raindrop that falls from the clouds onto the land. The raindrop begins its search to reunite with its source, the sea. The water finds its way into the river and eventually flows into the sea. Over the course of the journey it may evaporate and become a raindrop many times. Just as you reinvent yourself many times over the course of your life. The painting may hang either vertical or horizontal and the image wraps around the sides.

I miss seeing all my friends and collectors from all over who come to the outdoor show. I had planned a 20th Anniversary Special for the event and I have decided to host it in this venue as an auction.

The goal is to connect with art lovers and provide my art at an incredible value for this one-time occasion. I have selected work that will begin bidding at 80% to 50% off of its current value. There is a Buy Now option as well. I will tell you the creation story for each piece.

More about this piece-

This painting has some softer colors including magenta and turquoise. It has incredible depth and texture and it may appear to be wax but it is all acrylic. There are collage elements and the finish looks like encaustic but it is all acrylic. There is an extra deep frame and it can sit on a shelf or table. 11" x 9" x 2.5"
